Somewhere around 2000, I started collecting watches. I’ve been a long time motorcyclist and picked up watch collecting as a foul weather hobby, because of the fine mechanical nature of watches.
Initially the focus of my collecting was watches with movements that beat 10 times per second or 36,000 beats per hour. Collecting these led to becoming aware of the Zenith El Primero chronograph movement and the race to produce the first automatic chronograph between Zenith, a consortium of Heuer, Hamilton-Buren, Breitling and Dubois-Depraz and Seiko. Researching this event, led me to collect automatic chronographs as well as watches which have been worn in space. At the same time, I noticed that some of the rarest watches with high frequency movements were dive watches, which led me to collect them too.
The intent of this site is to share my collection with other collectors, as well as some articles and some of my thoughts on watch collecting which other collectors may find interesting or valuable.
